15-Day Visa-Free Entry

Dutch citizens with an ordinary passport who travel to mainland China for business, tourism, family or friend visits, or transit, can enjoy 15-day visa-free entry from December 1, 2023, to the end of 2025. A visa must be applied for if the stay exceeds 15 days.

Holders of a diplomatic passport can visit mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days. Holders of an official or service passport still need to apply for a visa at the embassy or consulate-general.

Dutch citizens can stay in Hong Kong and Macau, China, for up to 90 days without a visa.

Notes on the Visa-Free Policy

  1. Chinese immigration authorities will verify the purpose of the visit. It is advisable to carry supporting documents such as an invitation letter, flight tickets, and hotel booking confirmations upon entry to China.
  2. Dutch citizens with an ordinary passport must ensure their passport is valid during their stay in China. Travel documents, temporary or emergency certificates are not eligible for the visa-free entry policy.
  3. Dutch citizens eligible for visa-free entry to China can depart from any country outside China.
  4. Tourist groups are also eligible for the visa-free entry policy.
  5. Extension is possible if you need to stay longer than 15 days. You must apply for the extension at the Chinese entry and exit administration of the public security departments before the 15-day visa-free period expires.
  6. There are no restrictions on the number of visa-free entries or the total number of days for multiple entries.
  7. Visitors are not allowed to engage in activities that contradict the purpose of their entry.
